Two temple guardians caught mid duel, frozen forever in glorious bronze. This is theatre cast in metal, a swirling, kinetic tableau of Siamese mythology where one crowned warrior lunges and the other recoils, every sinew and ceremonial robe rendered in extraordinary, almost obsessive detail. Standing a commanding 49 cm tall and weighing in at a serious 6 kilograms, it is the sort of piece that quietly takes charge of a room.
What lifts this far above the souvenir shelf is the surface. The figures wear a true fire gilding, the old mercury process now banned and once reserved for sacred and royal objects, layered over richly chased garments and finished with gold leaf. Time has given it a wonderful broken patina of warm gold, soft silver and shadowed bronze, the kind of honest age you simply cannot fake. A collector grade sculpture from the late Rattanakosin tradition, mounted on its original hardwood plinth.
