Elegant and serene Chinese porcelain bust depicting Guanyin (Kuan Yin), the Bodhisattva of Compassion, rendered in beautifully hand-painted famille rose enamels.
This striking mid-20th century piece features a finely modeled white-glazed face with delicately arched brows, soft blush-toned cheeks, and traditional red lips. The flowing hooded robe is richly decorated with vibrant floral motifs in pink, blue, green, and iron-red tones, highlighted by intricate scrolling ornamentation. A small urna mark adorns the forehead, emphasizing the spiritual symbolism of the figure.
This sculpture is especially noteworthy for its impressive size and weight, which are rare for porcelain works from the region. Standing at 33 cm in height, it is both a visual and tactile centerpiece. The piece comes from the private collection of a diplomat’s family, further adding to its character and provenance.
