This sacred Buddhist ordination text consists of a two-sided rectangular palm-leaf panel, measuring 52.5 × 10 cm, featuring intricate gilt lacquer decoration and black lacquer script in formal Burmese square calligraphy.
The manuscript is framed in vibrant gold with elaborate vegetal and mythical motifs on both ends of each leaf. The central field is inscribed with precise vertical lines of script, most likely from the Vinaya Pitaka, detailing the monastic rules and recitations used during ordination ceremonies (Upasampadā). The reverse side of each panel features ornamental flourishes and medallions in red and gold, hand-painted with astonishing detail.
