Antique Bronze Judenstern Shabbat Lamp, 8-Arm Hanging Sabbath Lamp, German 17th-18th Century, Electrified

A cast bronze Judenstern, the star-shaped hanging Shabbat lamp of German and Central European Jewish households, 17th to 18th century, with freehand scrolling foliage engraved all over it. It is in original condition and has only been dusted. There is dark patina in the recesses and warm golden bronze on the high points, and two engraved numerals on the drip bowl that we have not yet explained. It was electrified later in its life and now takes eight candle bulbs, and comparable lamps are held in museum collections such as the Kunstsammlungen der Stadt Nürnberg.
