Heavy cast bronze, built for an altar rather than the breakfast table, and at approx. 3.15 kg it feels like it. A foo lion lies across the lid, a qilin prowls in relief below him, the spout comes out of an elephant's head and the handle arches over as a gnarled branch. Green verdigris has settled into every hollow and casting seam, the kind of surface that only comes from long undisturbed years.
