20th Century Chinese Qiangjin Lacquer Plate with Hand-Engraved Gold Peonies on Orange and Black
Nu am putut încărca disponibilitatea pentru ridicare
Qiangjin lacquer plate from China, a coral-orange well engraved by hand with gold peonies in lines barely a millimetre wide, set inside a deep black rim. Each peony crown has sixteen stamens, one flower stem hides a small black character mark you will need a loupe to find, and under raking light a smeared maker's fingerprint shows in the black as the faint profile of a face. It shows honest age: fine crackle in the lacquer, minor chips to the black rim and some softening of the gold, which is what we expect from a genuine hand-worked piece.
