A silver-plated tray in the Rococo style, chased and embossed with leaf and shell motifs and framed by a sculpted border of scrolls and botanical ornament, decorative silversmith work from around the turn of the last century. The patina has settled into the recesses and left the raised passages brighter, which gives the relief its depth. We have not polished it back to a showroom finish, and it is better for that.
