Saraswati, goddess of music, wisdom and the arts, seated at her vina with her fingers set and her eyes lowered, cast in the ornate Rattanakosin manner. The chasing is patient work, from the tiered crown and jewelled collars down to a rocky base where small deer graze under flowering trees. The original fire gilding has held up well, with an honest patina, scattered verdigris and the minor losses you would expect at her age.
