A big, bold Chinese lacquer charger, 70 cm of cinnabar red with a filigree gold dragon coiling through gilded clouds. The red ground is built up in fine concentric ribbons that catch the light like the rings of a tree. On its slender stand it stands 74 cm tall, and in Chinese symbolism the dragon brings fortune, power and the spring rains.
