A delightful flight of nine hand-painted faience plates from Kellinghusen, that storied little Holstein town whose tin-glazed wares have charmed German collectors for generations. Each plate carries the celebrated Trenck decoration, those exuberant tulips, songbirds and folk-flower sprays rendered in egg-yolk yellow, manganese, green and cobalt. Seven are the classic dinner size and two are generous showstoppers, all bearing the genuine Kellinghusen Trenck workshop stamp on the reverse. Produced between the 1960s and 1980s, they are the sort of cheerful, painterly ceramics that look as though spring never quite left them.

Gather them on a wall, prop them on a dresser, or let the two large plates anchor a tablescape while the smaller seven dance around them. A collection with this kind of colour and character is hard to assemble piece by piece, so here is the whole charming set in one go.

Styling & Collectors Inspiration

These painterly plates were born to be grouped and contrasted. Hang them as a gallery cluster beside our Hand-Painted Faience Wall Plate from Moustiers for a cross-border conversation in tin-glaze. Build out a folk-ceramic shelf with the Charming Set of 7 Old Handcrafted Ceramics, or play up the country-house mood with our Striking Pair of Glazed Majolica Pheasants. For a punch of mid-century German colour nearby, the Set of 3 Vintage West-German Vases sings in the same key. Browse the rest of the cabinet of curiosities at our full collection.
