About us
A Transylvanian family with decades of experience in collecting and selling antiques, we are excited to share our love for old objects with you.
Our roots are in Cluj-Napoca aka Klausenburg aka Kolozsvár, Transylvania, where the Habsburg empire has left its trace delicious cakes and Belle Epoque sophistication. The 🧛🏽♂️ usually prefer their slice of Esterházy cake with chandeliers and centuries of art.
Our store name, De Cosmutia, goes back to the 17th century when a Transylvanian ancestor was knighted for his bravery. Notable members include Kozmutza Flora, who interacted with the Hungarian poet József Attila, and Ottilia De Cozmutza, who was an art critique in Paris during the time of Brancuși (see below for a sample of her "Scrisori din Paris").
The latest generation, and the 🧠 behind this family store are: a scientist, an artist, and a medical doctor.
