Refund policy
Returns & Exchanges
We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. If you are not happy with your purchase, we have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after the day you or a third party (other than the carrier) received the goods to request a return. The item must be returned to us within 14 days of requesting a return. Returns are subject to the conditions below. We may withhold the refund until we have received the returned goods.
Eligibility for Returns
- Items must be unused, unworn, and in their original condition with all tags and packaging intact.
- Returns must be initiated within 14 days of delivery.
- Proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation) is required.
- Some items are final sale and cannot be returned (see below)
Return Process
- Initiate a return: To start a return, contact us at antiques@decosmutia.com. You can also initiate a return from your customer account.
- Receive Authorization: If your return is accepted, we will send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Select your return shipping option
- Option 1: You arrange the return - You may choose your own carrier and return the item to use at your own cost. In this case we ask that you obtain pre-approval from us for the selected carrier and shipping options before sending the item. If you select this option, we will reimburse the original payment amount after we receive the returned item, excluding the initial shipping charges.
- Option 2: We arrange the return - If you prefer, we can provide a return shipping label. The cost for the return shipping label will be deducted from your refund. If you select this option, we will reimburse the original payment amount after we receive the returned item, excluding all shipping charges (initial and return shipping costs).
- Processing Time: Returns are processed within 14 days of receiving the item.
Refunds
- We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 14 business days.
- Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too. If more than 15 business days have passed since we’ve approved your return, please contact us at antiques@decosmutia.com.
- Shipping costs are non-refundable, except in cases of incorrect items.
- For items canceled in shipment, you will be responsible for return postage costs.
- If the returned item is not in its original condition, a partial refund may be issued.
Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Final Sale & Non-Returnable Items
The following items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged:
- Musical instruments such as violins and violin bows. Due to the delicate nature and fragility of musical instruments, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges once an order has been placed. Shipping items back and forth puts serious strain on old instruments and can cause irreparable potential damage, which is why we cannot accommodate returns. We take great care in packaging each violin and violin bow to ensure it arrives safely to you. We recommend reviewing all product details, specifications and images before purchasing. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us prior to completing your order, and we will be happy to assist you.
- Discounted or sale items (e.g. items that have been purchased with a discount code, or items that were purchased as part of a sale)
- Gift cards
- Personalized or custom-made products
- Sealed hygiene or personal care items if the seal is broken
- Any other items marked as "Final Sale" at the time of purchase
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Return cannot be accepted where the following reasons are cited:
- A consumer cannot claim against Antiques de Cosmutia for defects that are brought to their attention before the sale, or if the consumer examines the goods before purchase and any defects should have been obvious. Most of the items sold by Antiques de Cosmutia and thus exhibit normal signs of use and aging.
- A consumer cannot claim against Antiques de Cosmutia for damage they cause or if they simply change their mind about wanting the goods or fail to collect/rearrange delivery of a parcel with their local Postal Service/Courier resulting in an item being returned to Antiques de Cosmutia.
- A consumer cannot claim against Antiques de Cosmutia if they chose the product themselves for a purpose that is neither obvious nor made known to Antiques de Cosmutia and they then find the item is simply unsuitable for that purpose.
- A consumer has no rights to claim against Antiques de Cosmutia for faults that appear as a result of fair wear and tear.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days without a justification. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day you or a third party (other than the carrier) received the goods. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us at antiques@decosmutia.com via a clear statement about your decision to withdraw from the contract.
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you no later than 14 days from the day we receive the returned goods. We will use the same payment method as your original transaction. You will not be charged any fees for the reimbursement. We may withhold the refund until we have received the returned goods.
As stated above, the buyer must bear the direct costs of returning the goods. The same options for returning the goods apply, as stated above. The goods must be returned in their original condition. If the item shows signs of use that go beyond what is necessary to test its condition, features, and functionality, you may be required to compensate for any loss in value and a partial refund may be issued.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- Custom-made or personalized goods
- Sealed items that are not suitable for return due to health protection or hygiene reasons
