A fine French violin bow from the early 20th century, crafted by Charles Nicolas Bazin (1847–1915), one of the most prolific and respected bow makers of the Mirecourt school. This bow is branded “Tourte”, a traditional homage stamp used by French archetier workshops.

Period: Late 19th / early 20th century

Certification: Accompanied by an original Raffin certificate of authenticity (Cabinet d’Archetiers Experts, Paris, J.-F. Raffin, Yannick Le Canu, Sylvain Bigot)

Stick: Fine Pernambuco, round, of beautiful red-brown wood with strong grain

Frog: Ebony, nickel-mounted with Parisian eye, pearl slide, and silver fittings

Button: Three-piece with matching nickel rings

Balance: Even and responsive, typical of Mirecourt craftsmanship

This bow offers a supple yet firm handling, producing a warm, projecting tone with excellent articulation. Its balance and strength make it suitable for both solo and orchestral use.

Provenance & Authentication
The bow is accompanied by a Raffin certificate (No. 26410), issued in Paris and signed by Jean-François Raffin, Yannick Le Canu, and Sylvain Bigot, the leading experts in French bows.
