Chinese ritual bell in solid cast bronze, crowned by a guardian who is part monkey, part dragon, over a dome of flame shaped studs, cloud reliefs and a lotus petal base. The deep green verdigris is natural and came with age, not from a workshop. It sits heavy in the hand at about 1.15 kg, and the chamber still rings when struck.
