A reclining laughing Buddha in heavy solid ebony, Late Qing, still resting on his original openwork base. The face is the best part: bone and horn inlaid eyes and a row of bone teeth set in mid-laugh, the kind of inlay you rarely see outside serious collections. There is an old, stable age crack across the belly, which we mention plainly and which only confirms his age.
