Two hand-carved Shona figures in dense black serpentine, polished to the deep sheen the material is prized for. The taller one is an elongated totemic form, 24 cm, rising to a crest like a feathered headdress, and the smaller one sits compact and quiet at 10.5 cm with angular features and a coiled headwrap. The cuts are sure and the planes are clean, which you find in good carving from this tradition's mid-century flowering.
