A single Kammavaca leaf from a Burmese ordination manuscript, black lacquer script in the formal square hand reserved for sacred texts, most likely drawn from the Vinaya Pitaka recitations spoken when a monk is ordained. Both sides are worked, with gold scrollwork and mythical creatures framing the ends and red and gold medallions painted by hand on the reverse. Leaves like this were commissioned by families as a gift to a young monk or given to a temple as an act of merit, and this one keeps its script and gilding vivid under honest age-related wear.
