Step into a sun dappled Romanian park where the light does all the talking. Alee în parc (Park Alley) is an original oil by Stefan Boca (1920 to 2002), a painter who studied the lessons of French post impressionism and then poured a distinctly Romanian soul over them. Acquired directly from the artist and kept in the same private collection for some forty years, it carries the unmistakable spirit of the world famous Baia Mare painting school.

The scene is a winding alley between slender birches and leafy trees, the path catching warm flecks of light as it disappears into a glowing summer wood. Painted in oil on cardboard with confident, buttery impasto, the colours are finely modulated and the brushwork is alive. It is signed by the artist and presented in a handsome dark moulded frame, ready to hang and ready to lift any wall it lands on.

Styling & Collectors Inspiration

A landscape this luminous wants good company. Hang it beside another Boca, the Stefan Boca "Toamnă" Autumn Landscape, to let summer and autumn converse across the room. Romanian collectors will love pairing it with the Blue Cornflowers oil by N. Alexandrescu or the tender Portrait of a Young Woman by Jean Alexandru Steriadi. Ground the grouping with the earthy tones of a handwoven Transylvanian wool rug and you have a corner that breathes Eastern European heritage.
