Sepia studio photograph of a young woman in a high lace collar, still in her original gilded oval frame with small corner ornaments. The loose Edwardian sweep of her hair suggests the 1930s or possibly a little earlier, and the careful pose and soft toning point to a proper portrait studio. A photograph, not a painting, and all the better for it.
