A West German handled wine jug from the 1960s, worked all the way round in crisp ivory relief: a lute player mid strum, a dancer with her garland, and between two columns a cheerful fellow who has plainly found the good bottle. Heart shaped medallions ring the shoulder and foot, the scrolled acanthus handle sits well in the hand, and the cobalt blue rim and base frame the whole thing. The old Westerwald tradition still at work in the middle of the last century, base impressed 2670 Germany and made to be poured from.
