Some couples just radiate. Here are Rama and Sita, the immortal lovers of the Ramayana, caught mid embrace and pressed by hand into a sheet of solid brass. This is a proper piece of Siamese metalwork from roughly 1880 to 1930, raised in repoussé from a generous 1 mm sheet (touristware is wafer thin, this is the real thing) and finished with the sort of fanatically fine background punching that only a master would bother with.
Look closely and the whole surface comes alive: serene faces, beaded jewellery, a sunburst aureole and a twisted rope border, all framing a tender, slightly cheeky tableau. Turn it over and you will find the maker's stamp and incised marks on the reverse, the quiet signature of the workshop that made it. A genuine collector's piece with warmth, glow and a story.
Styling & Collectors Inspiration
This relief is a born conversation starter and wants good company. Hang it where its golden glow can play off candlelight or a warm picture light, then build a little shrine of Asian devotional art around it.
- Continue the Ramayana on your wall with our Large Balinese Hanuman Statue, Rama's most loyal ally from the very same epic.
- Echo the sensual mood with the Khajuraho-inspired Temple Panels, a knowing nod to Indian temple art.
- Keep the brass theme glowing with our Tibetan Ganesha Brass Wall Sculpture.
- Anchor the grouping with a serene Khmer-Style Bronze Buddha Head for a moment of calm.
